Concepts are primarily polyvalent while symbols are primarily encapsulated. The symbol is self referential, while the concept is always in relation.

The conscience must have began with the experience of the symbol, because it is itself the form of self reference.

The encapsulated narrative that is the symbol still requires temporal perspective however.
